Professor Arik Senderovich is an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the School of Information Technology (ITEC) at York University. He also holds a status-only appointment as an Assistant Professor at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, where he supervises student projects and teaches colloquia.Before joining York University, Arik held Assistant Professor positions at both the Rotman School of Management and the Faculty of Information (iSchool) at the University of Toronto.
Arik is the CTO and Co-Founder of SiMLQ Inc., a Toronto-based company specializing in next-generation Digital Twins for complex service systems (www.simlq.com).
He holds a PhD in Data Science (2017), an MSc in Statistics (2012), and a BSc in Industrial Engineering and Management (2006)—all from the Technion–Israel Institute of Technology. In 2017, he received the prestigious Lyon Sachs Scholarship, awarded annually to a single outstanding PhD graduate. Following his doctorate, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Toronto Intelligent Decision Engineering Laboratory (TIDEL) at the University of Toronto.

Arik’s area of research lies in the intersection between Operations Management, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence. Currently, he focuses on developing methodologies for automatically learning models of complex and congested environments (such as hospitals and public transportation systems) from data logs.
His research has recently received an acknowledgement at the Fifteenth International Conference on Business Process Management in Barcelona (2017) where he was awarded with both the inaugural best dissertation award and the best paper award for that year.
